JAVASATU.COM- A private vehicle parked at a residence in Klampok Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency, was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Monday, May 26, 2025. Malang Police are currently investigating the cause of the blaze, which resulted in damages estimated at Rp245 million (approx. USD 15,000).
The fire broke out around 2:10 AM in the yard of Holil (40), the vehicle’s owner, while he was inside his home. A neighbor first noticed the flames after hearing cries for help from outside.
“Witnesses saw the fire already engulfing the rear of the car, which was parked on the home’s terrace. Residents attempted to put out the fire manually while alerting police and firefighters,” said Malang Police Public Relations Officer AKP Bambang Subinajar on Monday (May 26, 2025).
Four fire trucks were deployed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire in under an hour, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.
A preliminary investigation suggests that an electrical short circuit may have caused the fire. Investigators found burned wire fragments at the suspected ignition point. The vehicle was parked in an unsecured area, covered only by a plastic tarp, and strong winds may have accelerated the spread of the flames.
“The investigation is ongoing. We are taking statements from several witnesses and scanning the surrounding area to rule out foul play or other suspicious factors,” Bambang added.
No injuries were reported. Police are urging the public to ensure the electrical safety of vehicles, especially when parked in exposed or minimally secured areas.
